چکیده
An analytical solution is presented for scattering nonplanar SH waves emanating from a fault source using lined tunnel. The tunnel assumed to be an annular elastic solid in half-space. A simplified circular arc model employed represent the wave source. By means of separation variables method, all fields are given terms function series with unknown coefficients. Taking advantage method images, zero-stress boundary condition on horizontal ground surface satisfied automatically. applying Graf’s addition formula, system equations seeking unknowns derived by taking conditions. problem finally solved after solutions through standard matrix techniques. effects distance, curvature, and orientation revealed numerical results. It found that plane provide good approximation fault-induced cylindrical when source-receiver distance or radius curvature larger enough. Fault-induced topographic strongly affected orientation.

Boundary Element Analysis of a Lined Tunnel Problem
The boundary element technique is a practical problem-solving tool and useful in comparison to other currently popular alternatives. In this paper, a circular tunnel of a diameter 3.4 m is to be excavated through a clayey soil and surrounded by concrete lining of a thickness 0.2 m, so the clear internal diameter is 3.0 m. A plane strain analysis is adopted for such problem and the soil is assum...
متن کاملMethod of Green’s Function for Characterization of SH Waves in Porous-Piezo Composite Structure with a Point Source
An approach of Green’s function is adopted to solve the inhomogeneous linear differential equations representing wave equations in piezo-composite materials. In particular, transference of horizontally polarised shear (SH) waves is considered in bedded structure comprising of porous-piezo electric layer lying over a heterogeneous half-space. Propagation of SH-waves is considered to be influence...
متن کاملShear horizontal (SH) ultrasound wave propagation around smooth corners.
Shear horizontal (SH) ultrasound guided waves are being used in an increasing number of non-destructive testing (NDT) applications. One advantage SH waves have over some wave types, is their ability to propagate around curved surfaces with little energy loss; to understand the geometries around which they could propagate, the wave reflection must be quantified. A 0.83mm thick aluminium sheet wa...
متن کاملSource and Propagation Effects of Rayleigh Waves From
A reference point equalization method has been developed which enables 'the separation of source and propagation effects of surface waves. The method works on seismic events located in a small source region, which allows us to assume that all events share the same path effects to a given receiver. Two important steps in the method are initialization and iteration. Initialization obtains the fir...
